Title: Halloween
Universe: DC
Rating: G
Summary: In which Connor is talked into taking Lian Trick or Treating, and Kyle helps. Written for badninja

Connor offered Kyle a mildly puzzled look, blinking rapidly as he looked from Kyle, dressed in bright piebald colors, to Lian in the cheap imitation of a long medieval dress, complete with a little wimple. There were so many things that Connor just did not get, and he was more than willing to admit that Halloween was one of those things. But Lian was happy, and so was Kyle, so Connor was willing to go along with it. Personally, Connor would have been perfectly happy to spend the night passing out healthy treats, or patrolling the city to ensure the safety of those who chose to venture out to enjoy the night. But Roy had been called away, and Ollie was out of town already, and when Roy had called him he'd given Connor a long spiel about how important Trick or Treating was to Lian and how she'd be heartbroken if she didn't get to go.

Then Kyle had shown up, informing Connor that it was a night to party down. Connor had informed Kyle that there would be no partying down, because Connor was taking Lian Trick or Treating.

Kyle had responded to that by throwing himself into making sure that Lian was going to have the most awesome Halloween ever.

"This," Kyle said, pointing to a spot on the map he'd produced, "is on of those neighborhoods where they give out the full sized candy bars and silver dollars and stuff-" Kyle looked up. "Connor, you're not dressed."

Connor looked down at his slacks and pullover, then back up, one blond eyebrow cocked.

"Costume!" Kyle and Lian chorused, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“I wear a costume every night,” Connor pointed out.

“This,” Lian informed him, “is different. Daddy said he got you something, because you wouldn‘t have anything,” she added, waving vaguely towards Roy’s bedroom. Connor reluctantly went forth to face whatever it was that Roy had chosen for him, a ball of dread forming in the pit of his stomach.

Kyle reached over for the fourth time that night and adjusted the cap perched on top of Connor’s head to a more jaunty angle. Lian skipped ahead a bit swinging her “bag o’ loot”, most of her long skirt gathered up in one hand to keep from tripping on the hem. Connor sighed, reminding himself that this was making Lian happy, and there was no harm in going about dressed as Robin Hood for one night. Of course, it was very likely that Roy had picked the costume because it would allow Connor to escort Lian on this little venture while letting him keep his bow with him.

Roy could be a bit paranoid about Lian at times.
