Iris paced back and forth, hands clasped behind her back as she mulled over her current problem, occasionally bouncing her thoughts off of Dexter as he fiddled with the propulsion unit of his suit. “She has a duty.”
“It’s pretty clear she doesn’t see it that way,” Dexter noted.
“She is the chosen of the Panther God. Do you have any idea how rate it is that my god chooses an actual Avatar? This is MORE than the Black Panther. There hasn’t been one in over a hundred years! There are people who would give anything for the honor, and she treats it like -- like a party trick, at best, and something to be ashamed of at worst!”
“I thought she was a hero in good standing? Isn’t she in Excalibur or something?” Dexter asked, even though he already knew the answer.
“Yes, and she uses it as one more excuse to ignore the needs of her people!”
“Isn’t her mom English or something?”
“Welsh,” Iris said with a dismissive snort.
“And didn’t you tell me her dad was exiled from Wakanda for a while for being half Russian?” Dexter went on, following the logic trail.
“That’s not important. It’s not the point.”
“The point is she’s doing it to spite you?”
“Exactly!”
“Sounds like a cat to me.”
