Eric Shepard was fast, but he knew he had to be faster. If he was faster, he’d be able to go home. His wife was waiting for him (if she wasn’t already dead) and his boys, his little Gabriel and baby Aiden. Mom was with the boys, and she’d make sure they were alright, but he had to go faster, or there wouldn’t be a world for them to be safe in.
His legs burned, and it felt like his feet were made of lead, but he had to go faster. If he slowed down, everyone would die. Kitty and Malcolm and Didi and his boys and oh God it burned everything hurt but if he stopped it would all be over.
He hadn’t even said goodbye to any of them.
