Kate picked up a dart, twirling it in her fingers as Clint watched her. “The only reason I don’t run screaming,” she said as she regarded the dart board, “is that Iron Man meant well.” She laughed softly. “The road to hell, of course, being paved with good intentions.”

“You gonna talk, or are you gonna throw?” Clint asked, smirking ever so slightly as Kate rolled her eyes.

“I can’t do both?” the girl asked sweetly, embedding the first dart close to the bullseye. The second hit inside the center, and she held on to the third, just looking at it. “Do you ever think about giving it up?”

Clint arched his eyebrows, looking Kate up and down. “Maybe once or twice,” he admitted. “Almost didn’t come back, but someone had to show Tony and his merry band that they had their heads up their asses.” He snorted. “Didn’t work out so well, did it?”

Kate threw the last dart, and Clint crossed the room and pulled the darts free. “Sloppy sloppy,” he teased.

“Yeah, whatever. Show me what you’ve got, old man.” Kate rested a hand on her hip and tossed her hair.

“Who do you think you’re calling ‘old’?” Clint groused.
