Sean Cassidy-Guthrie studied the walls of his cell with a detached kind of interest. Ahura was on the other side of the clear cell door, watching him the way most people would have watched slimy things in tanks. “Why does my sister find you so very interesting?” the Inhuman asked.
“My winning personality?” Sean suggested flippantly as he tried to reach into Ahura’s mind. “My lack of interest in anything but her mind?”
Ahura sneered. “She is mine human, in body and spirit.”
“You,” Sean replied, feeling his skin crawl as he met the madman’s eyes, “are sick.”
“You would not understand,” Ahura said. “You humans will pollute your bloodlines with anything. Not that you’ll have the chance to do so.” There was something awful in his smile, something made that much worse by Sean’s ongoing inability to get inside his mind.
“I did mention I’m gay, right?”
That was when a sonic blast ripped through the air, shattering the cell door and every piece of glass, along with Ahura’s eardrums.
“Oh,” Sean said conversationally. “That would be my cousin. She sounds mad.”
