“Oh God, they hate me,” Victor groaned, grabbing a black garbage back and going around the apartment, scooping up the debris from the Apartment Warming Party.
“They don’t hate you. Don’t be so dramatic,” Billy called from the kitchen as he loaded up the dishwasher. “They like you just fine, and they always have.”
“They liked me when I was just your friend,” Victor insisted. “As your boyfriend, they hate me.”
“I thought I was supposed to be the neurotic one in this relationship,” Billy mused. “Relax.”
“Paranoia’s a survival trait in the X-Men.” He pulled a half eaten bagel from the couch cushions and made a face. Neither of them talked about where Teddy had been during the party. It was more comfortable that way.
