“Stop squirming and let me see your wrist,” Victor said a little sharply, opening up his first aid kit. Sarah made a face and held out her arm. “Jesus,” he muttered before he could stop himself, “it’s swelling.”
Sarah whimpered as Victor carefully cleaned out the gash that ran down her forearm, then bandaged it and the swelling wrist tightly. “It hurts. Are you supposed to bandage swelling things?”
“I think so. It’ll keep it from getting any more swollen, I hope. Just relax, we’ll be back at the school soon, and Ms. Annie will fix you right up. It’s all gonna be okay.”
Victor kept right on telling himself that, hoping he was right.
