“Not the most romantic date I’ve been on,” Sofia commented, biting into her hot dog.
“Is this a date?” Jono asked, arching an eyebrow at the girl. He huddled into his jacket and watched her until she looked away.
“It feels like it could be a date,” Sofia replied, feeling her face growing warm.
“It’s hot dogs of dubious origin and watered down soda. I may not ever have been the world’s classiest guy, but I can do better.”
“Can you?” she asked, her lips quirking slightly. “Care to show me?”
“You don’t want to go there, Sofia ,” he said softly. “I’ve got a piss poor track record, and you’re… what? Four years younger than me, at least.” He shook his head.
“Wow. You really are depressing.”
“It’s a gift.”
