The real question was, did they have what it really took to be heroes?
It was a question Wanda had been asking herself since SHIELD had made the offer to the Brotherhood. ‘Work for us. All sins will be forgiven. Be heroes.’
Wanda suspected that it would be the easiest for Toad. He was a follower to the core, and he would do what he was told. He was… malleable. Fred might have a harder time adapting, but as long as he was kept in the right situations, he should be able to make the transition to ‘useful agent’, if not actual hero.
Of the rest of them, Lance was easily the most naturally heroic… even of he refused to admit it. Enough time in the company of these people, and he could be every bit as much a good guy as the X-Men were.
Pietro was, in Wanda’s opinion, mostly hopeless. He had the impulse control of a hyperactive toddler, and a temper to match. He would require careful guiding to keep him in line.
Wanda didn’t know about herself. She suspected that she was too damn fucked in the head to be a real hero.
But maybe it was worth a try.
