Summary: The Mox-Xanathos clan is having a little family meeting about Ambrose.
“So, just what are we going to do about Ambrose?” Rowena asked, drumming her fingers on the table top as her gaze when from her grandson to her grandson-in-law and back again.
“I thought he’d go upstate to live with the Pack,” Connor said slowly, as if he was trying to work out why they were having this discussion. “He’s one of you, right? Like Cleo.”
“It’s not that simple,” Cyrus explained, his large white hands wrapping around his mug of tea. “That thing he does, the psychometry, that’s a mutation. And you know how the Pack can be about anyone who’s different.” The albino smiled grimly at his brother-in-law.
“I thought things had gotten better since you became Alpha,” Connor said, his eyes narrowed.
“‘Better’ is a relative term,” Cyrus stated with a shrug. “I think Ambrose would be better off in a more accepting environment.”
“Like… where?” Connor hesitantly asked.
Rowena slithered out of her chair, scowling as she realized that without it, both men easily towered over her youthful frame. “He’s a mutant. We send him to Xavier’s.”
Connor looked at the young immortal as if he suspected that she had lost her mind. “You’re joking.”
“Grandmother doesn’t have a sense of humor,” Cyrus said. “You know that.”
“Then you’ve lost your mind.”
“It was my idea,” Cyrus added helpfully.
“You can’t possibly think Ambrose would be safer at Xavier’s than with the Pack,” Connor scoffed. “It’s-it’s-”
“It’s not really your decision, Connor,” Cyrus informed the human with his usual calm. “The moment Ambrose went through the change, he became my responsibility. I have decided that this is what’s best for my nephew. I would prefer that you went along with it, but…”
“So that’s it, then? I get no say in what happens to my son? Jesus fucking Christ, Cyrus, when did you turn into your mother?”
“When I became Alpha.”
