“What are you doing for Thanksgiving?” Victor asked, folding the last of his sweaters and stowing it in his suitcase.
Julian sprawled across his friend’s bed and shrugged. “Staying here, I guess. The parents have washed their hands of me, and vice versa.”
“Well, that sucks.”
Julian shrugged again. “I don’t think I’ll miss them all that much,” he admitted. “Cessily and I are thinking of hitting Salem Center for dinner, since she’s staying too.”
Victor frowned, drumming his fingers on his suitcase. After a few moments of this, he snagged his phone off his dresser. “Could you get Cessily? I have an idea.”

“Thank you for having us, Mrs. Borkowski,” Cessily said, helping Victor’s mother pull out the hide-a-bed in the den.
“We’re always happy to have friends of Victor’s over.”
