The only thought that came to Cyrus’ head as he crouched in front of the door and inhaled his cousin’s scent was ‘she’s sick.’
And she was. She was sick in a way that would never get better. Like an old wolf, she’d crawled away to die. If old wolves could have slashed their arms to ribbons and downed enough pilled to ensure that they were feeling no pain, anyway.
But he hadn’t let her go.
The wolf in him had been against it. A sick wolf weakened the pack. Keeping her alive was doing her no favors. Not as she was now, sick and broken.
But she was the only one who cared. The only one who didn’t treat him like an omega. And he refused to give her up.
