Julian snatched up his cell phone before the first ring finished. “Vic? Where the hell are you?”
“New York,” Victor said, his voice hoarse. It sounded like he’d been screaming.
“New York? New York? We’ve been looking everywhere for weeks and all you have to say is you’re in New Yo-” Julian stopped short as he listened to Victor sobbing softly on the other end. “Vic?”
“Please… please just come get me, I’ve got to get out of here…”
“Sure, Vic. I’ll get Frost and-”
“Not Ms. Frost,” Victor pleaded. “I just - I can’t deal with her. Not now. Please.”
“Okay,” Julian said gently. “Just tell me where you are, and I’ll come get you.”
