“It’s been four hours,” Sunita announced, “and so far, no sign of them trying to come back down.”
“O-of course not. We’ve got Lemurian death rays,” Gus said, one hand resting on one of Josie’s compact death dealing devices.
“Well, now it’s your turn to watch,” Sunita replied, stretching. “I’m going to find a place to take a nap.”
“Night, Sunita,” Phineas called.
The girl grunted, waving to both boys as she ambled in the direction she’d last seen Josie going. The de facto leader of their little band was tinkering with the false sun device, but she wasn’t really paying it that much attention.
“Even you need to sleep.”
“Sleep,” Strange Josie retorted, “is for the weak. And the sooner this thing’s working-”
“Yes, yes. But all work and now play makes you into General Ross. Come with me. We’ll pick out a place to sleep.”
“Do you have any idea what that sounds like, Begum?” Josie asked, smirking at the dark haired girl.
Sunita’s hands came to rest on Josie’s shoulders, and she smirked back. “We don’t have to play by anyone’s rules but out own,” she said. “Are you coming or not?”
