dynus “I hate you so much,” Victor said, leaning his forehead against the cell’s bars.
“I could bust us out of here in half a second,” Julian pointed out.
“Oh, there’s a good plan. Lets bust out of jail and become fugitives from the law.”
“It’s all part of being an X-Man,” Julian said.
“So’s dying and coming back, but I’m not about to try that out, either.” Victor turned his head and glared at Julian. “How about you? Feel like dying tonight?”
Julian held up his hands and smiled his most charming smile. “Aw, c’mon Vic… I know you’re mad-”
“Shut up, Julian. Just shut up.”
The guard sauntered out of the office and over to the cell, hitching up his belt and looking at the two mutants over his glasses. “Well, one of you is a lucky fella. Victor Borkowski?”
Victor barely kept himself from letting out a sigh of relief as the guard unlocked the cell, and he quickly scampered to freedom. The look on Julian’s face as the door slammed shut again was the most woe-bygone thing the reptilian mutant had ever seen on his friend’s face. “You can’t leave me here.”
Victor considered the cracked ceiling above him. “Can’t I?”
“Vic?”
Victor could have sworn he saw Julian’s lower lip tremble, and he sighed. “I’ll get your bail money. Just sit tight.” He followed the guard to where Alani was waiting, her hands on her hips.
“What the hell did you two do last night?”
