Amadeus Cho stood in the doorway, watching Victor Borkowski as he spoke with his teammates, and calculated the time it should have taken him to finish the obligatory pleasantries before leaving. Victor was running almost four minutes late, and most of those four minutes had been taken up by one William Kaplan. Amadeus frowned slightly, then quickly cleared the expression away.
“Hey, babe!”
Victor tore himself away from his black haired teammate. “I’ll meet you downstairs, Amadeus.”
“Right.” Amadeus turned away in time to see the team speedster watching him before zooming away.
So sacrifice yourself
And let me have what’s left
“Vic?”
Victor sighed, resting his head on Amadeus’ shoulder. “It’s just a couple of cracked ribs. I’ve had worse.”
Amadeus closed his eyes. “And how’s Billy?”
“Fine. I took the worst of the blast.” Victor nuzzles Amadeus’ neck. “The meds are finally kicking in.”
“I know,” Amadeus whispered.

“Have you ever thought about quitting the Avengers?” Amadeus asked, tracing his fingers up and down Victor’s spine.
The mutant gave Amadeus an ‘are you nuts?’ look. “I love being an Avenger.”
“Yeah, but it’s killing you.”
“It was just as dangerous for me when I was an X-Man,” Victor pointed out.
“Then quit that, too.”
“Amadeus…”
