Matt smothered a chuckle as Claw tried to dislodge a clump of shedding fur in the middle of his back. The mute mutate had been shedding since the weather had turned warm, leaving hair everywhere he went and making him (and anyone near him with animal allergies) utterly miserable.
Matt considered the problem Claw was tackling for a moment, then stepped behind him and deftly picked the hair clump out. “Geeze, we could build a whole ‘nother you out of all this hair.”
Claw snorted, taking the ball of hair from Matt and dropping it into the trash.
“I’m sure you’ll stop shedding soon.”
The look on the mutate’s face made it clear that ‘soon’ wasn’t going to come soon enough.
“Think you could get a hold of a hair brush?” Matt asked. “I’ve got an idea.”

Orange and black hairs covered every surface, and Matt had gotten the worst of it. Claw was admiring his newly groomed self in the mirror, turning a moment to give the detective a thumbs up.
