Lia isn’t sure what she hates more; having to possess her brother’s body to fight the poor, tormented creatures the Poets control, or the times when she is nothing more than a disembodied spirit, unable to do more than watch. And she does watch, observing.
Poor D’eon, driven half mad with grief and the horrors he must witness to avenge her. She longs to offer her brother some word of comfort, but she has none left. God save his soul.
Little Robin, trying so hard to grow up fast. Only she sees him weep silently at night, when the nightmares are too much for him. She sees him look at D’eon much the way she knew he had looked at her before her murder. She longs to see him smile again.
And there was Durand. Always the enigma, even with the insight granted her by death.
