Title: Serenity
Rating: PG
Universe: X-Men: Evolution
Summery: Sam's feeling a little homesick, and Bobby's a geek.

Sam Guthrie was home sick. Not for any one thing, really. Just... generally homesick. God knew he didn't miss having to share a room with all his brothers. Having only one roommate was the height of luxury.

But he missed the way Jay would crawl into bed with him during a storm.

He missed being close to people.

Nobody touched here.

He could understand why, on an intelectual level. You couldn't go around touching telepaths -- or Rogue -- on a whim. But there were times when he wanted to grab someone and hug them, just for the contact.

But you don't go around hugging people at random. THat was just too weird.

So he burred his face in his pillow and tried not to think about it.

Sam almost jumped out of his skin as a very cold hand pressed against the small of his back. "Earth to Cannonball! Clean out your ears. How many times I gotta knock?"

Sam rolled over and glared at Bobby Drake. "What?"

Bobby drew back, looking a little hurt. "I wanted to know if you wanted to catch a movie with me. The second run theater's showing Serenity today."

"Man, how many times you gonna watch that movie?" Sam grinned a little, throwing his legs over the side of the bed.

"You can never have too much Joss Whedon."

"True, true." Sam wandered over to the window, throwing it open and looking outside.

"We can catch the 7:30 show if we leave now. Scott said he'd give us a ride." Bobby said. Same looked over his shoulder at Bobby and grinned even wider.

"I got a better idea."

He grabbed Bobby, sweeping him up in his arms, and lept out the window.

"I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar!" He whispered in Bobby's ear, letting his powers kick in before they could hit the ground Bobby let out a whoop as they rocketed into the sky, pressing himself close to Sam, his arms around the blond boy's neck. He was saying something, but the speed was ripping Bobby's words away from Sam's ears. It took Sam a few moments to realize that Bobby was singing, and with a laugh, Sam started singing along.

Take my love
Take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care
I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me

Take me out
To the Black
Tell 'em I ain't coming back
Burn the land
And boil the sea
You can't take the sky from me

Have no place
I can be
Since I found Serenity

But you can't take the sky from me

Sam was still laughing when Bobby leaned in and kissed him.
