so over the course of yesterday, i managed to save a friends' life.
at first, she was complaining of chest pains and not being able to breathe in, then she was suddenly out for, i swear, at least 3 minutes. after a few sessions of mouth-to-mouth, she started breathing again, but still remained unresponsive for another couple minutes. after she came to, she was fine for about 5 minutes when she passed out again. the "assisted breathing" needed to become more frequent, but the responsiveness was a bit more "there".
to be honest, i have no idea how long this whole thing took, but it was quite awhile.
i took her to the hospital (where i missed 6 hours of work), and they took some tests. everything came out "normal" or "good", so she was discharged with instructions to see her regular doctor for further testing.
it all seems so crazy. i really have no idea how much i helped, but i know i did help in some way... and i do believe that if i didn't do what i did, she probably wouldn't be alive right now. i mean, wow... isn't that crazy?!
now comes another struggle... my job. there's no doubt that some people don't believe any of this actually happened. there's others that believe that she was probably faking it for attention or whatever... and i'll probably get into some sort of trouble with work because of all that. i did call them and tell them what was going on, but who knows? at least i know i've got one assistant manager on my side, but who knows if that even will mean anything? let's just hope i still *have* a job.
