True Happiness
There was a young woman who sat on 3rd street corner, selling fruit that she grew her own. Everyday she would wait for just one customer to buy something from her, no one ever did. There was nothing wrong with the fruit, they were well taken care of; even still no one came. The young woman grew very sad, she worked very hard yet no one would appreciate her hard work. Eventually after months of distress the young woman gave up and sat at home wondering what she was doing wrong. Though she was not caring for her crops, they continued to grow. The crops themselves wanted to show the young woman that she should not be sad. They continued to grow more bountiful then ever before, when the young woman went to check on the crops, she was shocked as to what she saw. She understood the sign her children were trying to get to her, they didn’t want her to just give up, they knew that someday someone will buy it. The young woman smiled and began to harvest her produce. The next day she went to sell her goods, once again no one came, but this time her attitude was different. She kept her chin up and continued to sell for 4 more months.
Finally winter was growing near, she was worried that all of her work would be to waste again. As she sat there with a discouraged look on her face, an old gentleman walked up to her and said, “I’ll take everything here”. She was filled with so much joy only externally showing as a soft smile, but deep down there was a chorus of happiness. “Thank you, please come again!” she said as the man walked away with basketfuls of fruit. She sat back down and she noticed an old peddler woman sleeping on bare ground with no blanketing or anything of the sort. The young woman approached the older woman and gave all of her earnings to her. The old woman got up thanked the woman and walked away. Later that night the young woman cried in her room, crying because she finally realized what true happiness is.
