How horrible, Christian fundamentalist in america thought dictating a lifetime of sexual confusion or worse, even though we already live lives as such, for the most part.
I can't imagine living an entire lifetime with my own sexual self-identification based on a Doctor who might have made a mistake.
Doctors make mistakes that fuck up peoples lives all the time...but in this case, it's not just the Dr's, it's the parents that are splitting that decision. Most people would say "They did what they thought/felt was right!".
I say, no, they did what the Dr's said was best and what made them feel most comfortable. To me, that doesn't define as right...just the easiest way out of a tough situation for them.
There are cultures out there where intersex individuals are not uncommon (certain tribes in the south pacific). Why the hell are we not looking to people and cultures that have been dealing with this for a long, long time and see how they're handling it? Why screw the kids by trying to reinvent the wheel?
