Allison Crews died over the weekend.
I didn't know her in "real life"- just as an online presence and a positive influence in so many mamas' lives. Our interaction was just silly LJ stuff back when she journaled regularly, but I always thoroughly enjoyed her writing- I thought she was brilliant. Read her essays for a taste of that brilliance.
What can I say about her that hasn't been said a thousand times today? She was a feminist revolutionary, a beautiful woman, a devoted mother, an unapologetic proud dyke, a courageous and inspiring person. She will be sorely missed.
My heart breaks for her family, her grieving partner Julie, and most especially for her son Cade. How do you explain death to a child?
