it's been quite a while.

first time in the burg since summer time and things seem the same as usual...
i'm excited to go see love in the time of cholera in theatres! so excited i'm re-reading the book so i can be really mad when i see how much they've f-ed up the story. i'll be sad i'm sure. because it's the type of story that one can never really reproduce without taking so much away from the imagination. kind of like lord of the rings. except not at all. but by seeing lord of the rings, i will forever picture frodo as elijah wood and sam as rudy =)

i suppose that's life though. books into movies that squash your previous imaginings. the heavy real world that can squash your creativity. blahblahblah

so i've discovered my passion for music is really huge. as much as i love words, stories, poetry, etc. i love rhythms, guitar licks, harmonies & melodies a whole lot more.

So I may listen to a song a billion times and know the words to an entire album frontwards and backwards...but it's really only the words in a musical context. like i sing a song but treat the words like notes...in that when i stop and listen to a song after hearing it and singing it four million times, i realize something totally new.

Example: I was listening to a dave matthews band song at a concert once and the lyrics go, a nickel or a dime for your time, the truth is i don't really care...
and i was just singing along and realized suddenly he was talking about pot. seriously mimi? you don't know how many times i'd heard that song. it was nuts. SO i memorize most words as rhythms or just another musical language aside from their meaning as words. hard to describe.

as stevie wonder says, music is a world all it's own with a language we all understand.
