SO there's nothing better than staying up until 4:30am on sat night & sun night (due to super bowl) and then being pleasantly awakened by the lovely muslims calling to mosque at 5. thank you islam.
SO, in senegal, the kids go out to party at like 1am and get done at like 6...SO in an attempt to "fit in" hehe my friends and i went to a club and saw yusoon ndor, a very popular senegaleese singer. we arrived at 1, the show started at about 2 and ended at 4. he was such a cool laid back singer! but promptly, after falling into bed at 4:30 ish, i closed my eyes, and then woke up with the prayers to allah screeching out of the megaphones of the mosque right around the corner.
they pray a lot.
the super bowl was sunday, of course, and so a bunch of us US kids went to the marines house and watched the game on big screen tvs and feasted on peanuts & pringles, and had to be 21 to drink, but i made a friend, of course, and i got to have 2 heinekens! yah! it was fun times...but very strange, they have hot water and marble floors and toilet paper & a swimming pool. almost unfair. but not. =) totally cool!
i hope my laundry gets done today.
yeah, my family has a maid, most families do. and my laundry hasn't been done in a while...it's about that time =) i feel really weird saying that! also, i got scolded by my friends mom about going out on weekday nights. we can't! it was crazy! i totally felt 16 all over again! crazy.
MY african lit class will be the best class here! the teacher is so animated and into his work! he reads the poetry so well and it's just exciting! my other class, the culture one, is politics and it's boring boring needles in my eye boring.
