Casualities and Trivialities

It's hard to complain about my life when an amazing young man just lost his. Every day, soldiers die to preserve freedom, while half of their country rallies against them in bitter disapproval. Jesse touched the lives of man during his 24 years here on Earth, and many more who fought beside him would give their lives to preserve the freedom of others. And these men and women remind us that God works in and through the lives of those who serve Him willingly.

So many things in this life don't matter. Stupid fights I have with friends, "big" decisions like where I'm going to live, and what I'm going to do this weekend really don't matter in light of what is going on in the rest of the world. Rather than praying about things that really do count, I'm sitting there worrying about things which won't matter in eternity. And that is a shame.

I want to be the type of person that changes lives in my corner of the world. I want to be an inspiration and a source of prayer and encouragement to others. If all of us desire to live life that way, how much better would this world be? I don't think it's too much to ask of us to seek out the purpose God has for us and go after it with reckless abandon. We only get one shot at it. Why not make that decision today?
