best Christmas gift ever

So this past week has been a whirlwind of emotions. W&C played two shows: one at the Knitting Factory, one at the Casbah. The former was good, had people into what we were doing and got yet another person advising we get out of San Diego (believe me, we want to). The latter...well, at the time 3/5 of us felt discouraged. Primarily since the opening band sounded so good and Akron/Family..well, heck, they are just amazing. Basically, I went home that night questioning God's plan for me. I really wanted a compelling reason to keep running because I was feeling like I was just wasting my time. I spent the next two days really seeking Him but all I came up with was "Keep going." So by the time Ian and I went to church last night I was just feeling bitter, and I really didn't want to be there.

He gave me the encouragement I needed at exactly the right time.

Miles' sermon was perfect. Basically the message was: If we're truly following God, we will follow His plans for us at 150mph regardless of whether we understand why we're doing it. Afterwards, I felt so rejuvenated and it got better as the night progressed since I had an intimate Christmas party with my four favorite people in the world. I was able to share my thoughts/feelings about each one of them through their Christmas cards and what was even more special was the fact that I got to essentially express to one of them that their placement in our lives was truly a perfect orchestration. We had an awesome gift exchange; felt better after watching Jerry's video of what had actually happened; turned into 10 yr. old sore losers when the M and the T dominated us during a board game; had about 548 "That should be on YouTube" moments; had an impromptu band jam/practice session...
I really couldn't have asked for a better night.
