Andrew

Yesterday at pre-school the teacher informed me that Andrew flew into a crying screaming rage kicking chairs and throwing himself down on the ground. One teacher said he did this for no apparent reason. His other teacher described the situation to me: She held up a replica of a monarch butterfly and asked Andrew what kind it was. Her intention was to let him shine as the "bug expert", as she knows that Andrew loves to be an expert; it makes him feel good about himself. However, her plan backfired and other kids shouted the answer before Andrew had a chance. Since this was not what he expected to happen, he flew into his rage/meltdown. After a few minutes of this he went to the reading corner and sat in the bean bag.

Which is when I entered the preschool room. With some coaxing I was able to get him to come with me since we had to go to kindergarten round-up at 10:45am. All during the round-up meeting he was out of sorts, verging on the edge of a meltdown. He didn't want me to look at him, touch him, or talk to him. He kept putting his rain coat over his head and hitting himself in the head. We managed to get through the round-up meeting without a complete meltdown. Whew!

Once we got back home, he was able to gather himself together. Thanks to Abilify and Zoloft.
