Took Jake (the oldest) to the neuropsychologist for a check up today. He's pretty pleased that Jake seems to be doing well at school, and that a lot of the negative behaviors we were seeing at home are remitting. He says his issues may have just been developmental delay, but he isn't ready to take the Asperger diagnosis away just yet. He wants to leave it as in case something crops up where Jake might need some intervention. He'll re-evaluate again next year.
Of course Andrew had a meltdown there. Not too horrible--some kicking of chairs and wall and crying, but didn't last too long--maybe 10 minutes or so. The problem? He didn't want to go to the grocery store after the appointment, even though this wasn't a surprise to him. Once he stopped his fit, he did okay. A few minor crying jags at the store, but we got through it. Of course the store took a long time because I had all 3 boys with me--almost 2 hours!! Yuck.
Anyway it's a beautiful day here. Better enjoy it because by Wednesday and Thursday the highs are going to be around 40 degrees with snow flurries in the forecast for Thursday. Tell me it isn't so.
Yesterday I finally got 2 out of 3 boys to play a board game with me. In my desperation for them to play board games with me, I bought the Sponge Bob version of Monopoly. I think Jake actually is into the game, because when it was time to stop playing, he wanted to save the game. So I'm hoping later today he'll want to play some more. We have a whole closet full of games that I'd like to play, but usually no takers. I'm hoping this will change soon.
