When did we become evil?

When did we become evil? When did we become the opposite of everything that is set forth in our Declaration of Independence?
Maybe it began before we became a nation. We preached that all human beings were created equal, by both nature’s and god’s laws. All human beings have the right to live how they want to live. But at the same time we enslaved ( Read more... )

I don't have a problem with war in general. But I do have a problem with unjustified war. And with Guantanomo. Keeping prisoners at Gitmo goes against everything that America is supposed to stand for.

We had every right to go into Afganistan, but Iraq didn't do shit to us. If the people of Iraq had asked for our help so they could revolt, I'd be ok with that. If we force 'democracy' on a people is it really freedom? I believe that people have the right to chose what kind of government they want to have. I don't believe that there is the 'one right way' to live. We act like our form of living is the 'one right way'. Anything else is uncivilized. And it is our duty to civilize and teach them the 'one right way'.

I just feel so disgusted by the way we treat those who don't live as we live. And I feel disgusted by the way that we live. Our society is built on oppression. We cannot function without it. Someone must be on top and someone must be on bottom. Other animals don't live that way. We are the only animal that kills for no reason. We're killing people in Iraq, but why? We're not eating them and we're not protecting ourselves or our young. We have no natural reason to be over there.

I'm not marking us as bullies. I am choosing not to participate in a society that lives on oppression and war. I am voicing my opinion in hopes that I can change it.
