Hayward's Unabridged Dictionary - definition set

Mar 07, 2007 02:17

At last! I would've had these done a week ago, but life got insane. Not kidding--it's been really crazy. Anyway, I'm hoping the worst of that is over, and I'm also very much sick of seeing these waiting, so I got to work and finished the first batch. I figure I'll do them in sets of 20. Hopefully the template I used is OK, and I didn't make too many goofs about where I scooted the boxes to.

All of these are definitions from Hayward's Unabridged Dictionary. As he freely admits to borrowing as much or more than he creates the defs., and he did not specify which were which, I figured it was safe to borrow them directly. Some were too long or unsuitable for various reasons (I wasn't creating one which directly contradicted my beliefs, for instance). The content of these is mostly either religious, political, or just plain funny about something (such as making fun of elevator music or neckties). Given the religious and political aspects, there will undoubtedly be icons you disagree with (I'd be surprised to find someone who agreed with every single one in each post). I'm asking that this not be the place to bring up any disputes you have with the content/definition. If you can't stand it, skip it and don't bother mentioning it. If you do, however, find one absolutely funny or "so true!", then please do leave a comment letting me know which, by the word/s being defined.

Also, note that in order to fit the defs. on, I had to use a rather small pixel font. I can read it fine, good eyesight and all, but I'm sure some people won't. Apologies ahead of time--there isn't really a way around it. To those who can read it, proceed ahead! :)

Comments are definitely wanted here--anything you found funny or meaningful, do let me know! I don't expect anyone to be snagging these for use as icons, so I'd like to hear which definitions you found funny, at least. :)
