Yamada Taro Monogatari episode 10(final)

Yamada is presented with opportunity to go to America as an exchange student. He is ready to refuse because his family has no money but Nagahara Researcher stops it with info that expenses are covered by University. More than that, because he is going to be Nagaharas' assistant he will have salary which will be more than enough for his family to live on till he is absent. Yamada is at loss for words and doesn't seem too excited but promises to talk to his family about it. At home, his Dad thinks it is great idea and advises him to travel world while being young. Mom is excited too and finds Yamadas' old notebook where he wrote his childhood dream of growing veggies in America and eating huge hamburgers. Yeah, it sounds like Yamada, ha. His brothers are hyped too but his sisters are quiet.
Next day, Mimura informs Takako of Yamadas' trip. Seeing her shock he decides to play little prank and tells her Yamada just finished school and will go straight to airport. After hearing this she pushes trough hallway screaming. Of course Mimura gets reaction he wanted. Takako catches up to Yamada at front gate(half-expected for her to tackle him to the ground) and starts freaking out that he is going without saying goodbye. He is totally lost at her reaction and gives her plain goodbye which almost makes her cry. Horror, she means that little to him! Yamada tries to keep her calm by explaining that he just has to go to part-time job. Boy, if i could bottle up Mimuras' laughter i would store it for rainy days... Any way, Takako realizes she is being tricked and reveals to Yamada information she was fed with. Another adorable laughter. Ah, these boys are trying to kill me! She is frustrated but forgets that when Mimura reveals that part about going to America is true and Yamada confirms it, though nothing is decided. Another girl is having difficulties with America. Poor Kyoko Sensei sits dejectedly at her table when Gym Teacher happily asks her to eat with him. He misunderstands that she wants american food and she just leaves him frustrated because he is not sure what food she wants and she ignores poor fella.
While Yamada whole day just thinks about america, Takako already decided to follow her guy till the end of the world. Which means she is currently sitting in her room and listening english language lesson tapes. Her attempts to replicate what she heard are hilarious probably because she sounds like she will attack someone. My favorite is "Unbolibabo"! After wondering what gotten into Takako, her parents decide she likes some american guy and that means they should learn english too. Hence standing behind her door and parroting her every word. What is even more hilarious is that Takakos' father pronounces things better that Takako. LOL!
Yamada returns home from part-time job and sees advertisement for huge american hamburger and seems determined. He is then stopped by guy handing flyers and guess what, it is Ohno Satoshi!!! Squeee! He hands Yamada flyer saying they will be doing okama taishou(buahahahaha) before correcting it to festival. Pffft! We all know that side of you so no need to hide it Riida! Nino, erm, Yamada shoots him a smile and leaves Captain dazzled.
Next day, Yamada stands before Nagahara Researcher and Principal and hands them flyer for american hamburger. He explains that when he was young he wanted to go to america and taste their hamburger. But now, it wouldn't be delicious if he cannot share it with his family. President laughs and muses that it might be good for everyone to feel hungry at least once before acknowledging that he learned something from his pupil today, no matter what they put in front of him he stays unmoved. He sends Yamada away before telling Nagahara that they have to think a reward for winner. And then, Principals' eyes widen at something on flyer. Which is precisely the thing Yamada is showing to Mimura. The add states that whoever wins air guitar contest will get huge american hamburger. Yamada doesn't know what air guitar is but is sure to win and right away signs Mimura as his band mate. Ha! Mimura whats to increase members by one and they just have right person for the role... Takako gets tuned on plan and it only takes for Yamada to do his signature hand-grabbing, puppy-eyes-starring and she agrees. Adding that she will also go to america with him. But he matter-of-fact tells her he is not going. Ha! All that hard work goes down the drain. Unbolibabo!
Kyoko sensei sees Nagahara Researcher walking down the hall and calls him Nagahara-chan! Ha! She tells him she will go with him to america only to be said he is not going. Buuut, he comes closer asking what her response is for his proposal. She stutters and he takes a look at her fingers declaring it 9mm before walking away. Till now i am not even surprised of his forwardness but poor Kyoko Sensei stands there dazzled.
Yamada informs family of not going to America and reactions are mixed: Mom and Dad are ok with it though not really thrilled, girls are delighted but boys are silent. Later that night, kids, minus Yamada who is at part-time job cleaning, gather for consulting. Boys don't like this, they think Yamada is not going because they have no money and they have no money because it is spent on kids. They are all dispirited and girls agree that though they would like for him to stay, staying because of lack of money(they presuppose he wants to go) is not right. Jiro wants to gather money but their piggybank is as good as empty. Nanami and Mutsumi donating all marbles is sweet but does little to increase budget. That is since Saburo sees something on flyer and all kids smile...
Yamada uses every free moment to practice his air guitar skills, even on job, Mimuras' practice makes Isogai wanto to rock too and Takakos' parents can only watch in wonder as she does slick jump off bed totally in her performance. The day of the performance is there and we have cute cameo as Yamada, Mimura and Takako are stopped by Nemoto Mio(RL announcer) and got to be in news program hosted by Mino Monta(RL tv host). But then they get to the back stage and there is seriously huge bunch of people. Nervous! Mimura points at someone and to their shock it is Principal dressed as glam-rocker. He is a bit insulted at their disbelief and informs them that he is former rocker called Red Vegetable. Phahaha! Mom and Dad Yamada arrive just when show is about to start and, awww, Takakos' Mom and Dad saved seats for them! Sugiura is also there with huge camera and Masami is by his side. They are both surprised to see Principal rocking on the stage. Oh, he is goood... After that, they are shown seriously huge hamburger which is to be taken by winner. Yamada looks at his siblings salivating and gets determined to win. He tells that to Principal who doesn't seem affected but cheers him. He probably just came to perform. Yamada goes on roof for last-minute practice and admits to Mimura, who finds him there, that he is getting nervous. They chat a little and Mimura admits of working this hard for the first time in his life. He thought that laughing, crying, working hard was so uncool but since he begun being friends with Yamada, he opened up to that idea, seeing it possible. He is grateful for meeting Yamada who made it possible. Behind their back Takako smiles and interrupts to tell them it is time. They get on the stage and their friends and family cheer on them. In short time everyone is on their feet enjoying performance. In the end, the only persons without smiles are Yamada siblings who apologize before using atmosphere to run out. Yamada and co are greeted with applause in the backstage and Takako pouts when Yamada hugs Mimura in gratitude only to break into wide smile when also pulled in one. Mom just then realizes kids are gone and they ominously mix into the crowd. It is time to announce winner and of course our trio is on top. Yamada takes mike to address his siblings only to realize seats are empty. Mom checked up and they are not near so search party spreads checking every kid.
Actually, kids are at lottery place, getting informed that they need to have lottery tickets to turn wheal. 5tickets, one turn. First prize 100 000yen. Aww, kids! They are not sad for too long and decide to simply search for tickets or ask for people to give it to them if they don't need it. I mean, these kids are so cuuute, who wouldn't give up on ticket for them? That doesn't mean Yamada is having any better time searching for them...
In the mean time, Takakos' parents happen to come to lottery place because Mom has been collecting tickets. They happen to see Itsuko and Yoshiko and girls spill the beans of wanting to send Yamada to college with reward. Dad opens his mouth to tell them that 100 000 is not enough but Mom elbows him and makes girls incredibly happy by handing them stack of tickets. They thank her properly and ask of her not to say to Yamada. Though she promises, Mom is no idiot and knows parents must be woried sick so she calls Takako(who is on search with Mimura) right away. Soon everyone gather and Takakos'Mom explains trough tears that kids want to see their an-chan on college. He is ready to come to them but Dad stops him saying they need to do this. One by one, kids turn wheal but they end loosing. Kids are all dejected and Yamada approaches them softly saying they made everyone worried. Kids teary-eyed, apologize saying they did their best because he is holding back again because of them. Omg, i am crying. He thanks them and is so happy because they did this for him. Tears pool in his eyes as he makes it clear that he is not going because he can't bare to part from them. They ask him if it is true and he confirms it. They run to him sobbing and turning everyone into big puddle on the floor. Even Mimuras' eyes are red. Yamada leads kids home to finally eat big hamburger. They all have fun and every bit of angst is forgotten.
It is 11th November, in Principals' office Yamada gets his prize: he is to be welcomed as Jounan University scholarship student. No school fees but he will have to work for his family. Though, that seems like no problem for him. Mimura hears this news with smile and wonders which path he should choose... I am feeling that it is going to be pretty close one. Takako works hard on her admission test while her parents cheer her on. Kyoko-sensei is gulping vine in restaurant(pretty sure that is the same one where MatsuJun was sitting with Kiko Mizuhara in Shitsuren Chocolatier) when Nagahara appears from nowhere and puts a ring on her asking if she would be happy by his side. I was expecting a kiss but no, she just freaks out. Masami wants to see what Sugiura is giggling about and in tussle he by accident deletes ALL pictures on his huge camera making him faint. In no time, Kyoko-sensei is handing over her wedding pictures and Gym teacher is angry that he was not invited. Ha!
Just like that we got to 4th April and Yamada family kids say goodbye to Mom before going to school. Mirroring first episode, Mimura gets woken by Isogai who informs him they arrived wishes his master good day. Guess what, they are in front of Jounan and Yamada runs over to Mimura. They enter together and just like that, crowd spreads to let two "european aristocrats" pass. That is not all as girl runs to them and it is our Takako in hot new suit! Awww, our trio is reunited for more adventures!
