Yamada Taro Monogatari episode 6
Summer is on, full force. Yamada siblings are enjoying their tiny kid pool and trying to make Taro to join them. Unfortunately pool is too tiny even for them and one patch gives in... Yamada goes to Mimura manson thinking how to bring them to real pool but forgets it when Mimura presents him with flour. Yamada is so happy imagining all the things his family can eat. His train of thought is again interrupted when decides it is too cold in the house. Mimura doesn't think so but Yamada is positive that if Mimura stays in such cold place he will get reibyo... reibo... He mixes the name of the reiboubyo disease(basically your body suffering from big temperature difference outside and in cooled environment inside) making Mimura laugh. On his way out Yamada sighs about writing classes and Mimura about being alone during summer. There is something so alone-little-boy when he says that makes you want to give him a hug... anyway they pass by a girl and Yamada turns. Mimura is curious at his reaction but Yamada just confusedly brushes it aside. Mimura grins.
At home Yamada marvels how good that girl smelled. His siblings wonder at different smell alerting him that he is burning their lunch. Oops! They wonder what is it with him and mom exclaims that it may be love! Right away Yamada is cornered with all questions about her personality, looks, where they met etc. He tries to defend saying they just passed by and he never even saw her face. But they agree that it must be love. HEH! Takako also tries to say she is not in love but her parents count all "love illness" symptoms: no appetite, always thinking of him, not being able to forget him, seeing that person's smile when your eyes are closed... Poor Takako can't even argue.
Next day Yamada asks Mimura and gets answer that it is love. Mimura pointedly asks how he felt when she passed by. His heart started beating fast? It is love! Mimura laughs but then turns to look at Takako and his eyes sparkle deviously. He invites Yamada to his house saying that girl will be there. Yamada is all "What should i do?" so Mimura does some reverse psychology.
Mimura: If you can't, then, i don't want to force you...
Yamada will come. Just to, yunno, confirm what is happening. Suuure. And then next thing you know Mimura finds Takako to spill the beans that Yamada may be in love. She is all "That is none of my business!" but when he turns to go she can't help but ask about girl. Pfft! Just like Yamada... As soon as Mimura opens mouth to answer she again stops him and wants to leave. Mimura loudly tells that they will see today again making her pause and gasp but then she turns with smile saying he can do what he wants all with fake laugh. Mimura burst in genuine laughter. She is such a kid! School ends and Mimura has to wake Yamada from daydreaming. On his way out he catches Takako staring at Yamada(who has goofy smile on his face). In the mean time, fancy looking girl strools down schoolyard demanding attention from all the boys. She waits for something in hallway and sees Yamada. Taking a wiff she muzes how good his smell is.
She is ex-student Kotani(OMG, Mizukawa Asami!) and now on 4th year of college aspiring movie maker. Obviously Principal knows her good and she hands him her new script named Hotary(Firefly). This time, she wants to make diferent kind of high school movie and would like for real students to act. She looks at Principal expectantly and he wants to appear in the movie. HA! Is he pursuing acting-career? Lol! Anyway. Director Kotani asks Kyoko-Sensei to take few of Special Class students explains that it is a love story about poor guy and rich girl. Kyoko-sensei desinterestedly says how rich person won't be a problem but finding a poor one...and stops mid-sentance remembering Yamada telling her he is poor. Director doesn't see problem since her poor guy will have rich guy look. HAHA!! He is poor guy everyone thinks is ritch and now acting like a poor guy! This is hillarious!
At Mimura home, Yamada is nervously wiggling while Mimura inhales all amusement. Yamada is all jumpy when someone is at the door but it is just cute maid bringing them tea. He calms until girl passes by and his heart starts acting up. He turns to Mimura wondering what is wrong with him and Mimura all serious tells him he is quite playboy making Yamada bury face in his hand. Mimura has to silence laughter. Mimura what did you do?
Takako and Masami are at karaoke place and Masami is singing her heart out with "Precious" by Yuna Ito(from NANA2 OST). Takako on the other hand pouts remembering Mimura's words about Yamada being in love and seeing that girl again. Masami , being good friend that she is, offers to listen to her but Takako slaps a smile and they sing their lungs out.
Girl finally appears and Yamada melts not taking his eyes off of her. Son, your eyes will dry out! Girl gives him her hand made cake to try and Yamada stops after taking a wiff of it. He realizes girl is smelling of cake and Mimura has a good laugh explaining that girl is teaching maids to bake a cake. Mimura right away knew Yamada reacted to smell. Lol! Even maid laughs!
Next day Takako is so releaved when Mimura tells her Yamada isn't in love. He comments on her being similarly simple person and starts to say something serious but stops himself and smiles instead wishing her to do her best. She is initially confused but realizes she might after all do her best with Yamada and rushes off to find him. Unfortunately Director Kotani finds him first and Takako retreats dejectedly after seeing them together. Actually, Director Kotani asks Yamada to be the hero of her movie. He declines at first but reconsiders when she gives him box of famous(expensive) mix for pancakes his family was dying to eat. When she includes free-pass ticket for her hotels's pool, he is sold. The word spreads like a wildfire trough school and in short time girls gather in room for audition. Sugiura wants to audition for lead role but is handed camera instead. HA! He doesn't complain though when finds out hero is poor and all girls gasp in horror. Kotani however explains on wanting prince-like hero who is actually poor. And then Yamada puts on jacket full of patches ment for lead guy and all girls are charmed. He looks awesome even in it! Of course he passes audition(requiring of him to act poor while imagine-sewing, lol) and when asked if some wants to participate as heroine, all girls raise their hands. Except Takako. She cautiously looks at Yamada but when sees him looking at her expectantly, she runs out.
Alas, she is unable to go far because Mimura's stops her wondering if she is running away and looks all disappointed. But she has had enough and asks him what his problem(actually my question), what he expect her to do?! This may be a game for him but makes her worry so much. He gently tells her he really hopes they will work out but when asked why all he can say is: because it seems interesting. Not cool man! With glare she turns to go again and he stops her saying it is not right for her not to go: If you stop running away, good things will happen. Takako closes eyes for a sec. If she thought to clear her mind like that it is no go, memories of Yamada flood her brain. She rushes back making Mimura gently smile. She comes just at time and is let to try acting like only thing she cares about is money. She does it and Director decides to pick her. Since she is the most commoner-like. HA! Yamada is happy that she came and while they walk home together he praises her yell for money thinking it is acting. HA! They happen to meet Takako's mom and she talks about cheep things with Yamada while Takako tries to persuade herself she did good thing choosing Yamada. Then mom invites Yamada to dine with them winking at Takako. There, her Dad is for the first time wearing suit, lol. He and Mom misunderstand Yamada saying Takako will surely become good wife like Mom and they asure him they will right away start training her to be one good wife. Pft!!! Takako imagines herself and Yamada acting as her mom and dad. She slams her hands declaring that she doesn't want poor guy! Oh-oh! But Yamada doesn't take offence and compliments her on already memorizing all lines for movie. Aww, he is so cute! Besides being blockhead. At home Yamada shows his family pancake mix and they put it away for some special moment. Takako reads the script and finds herself unable to say she loves guy though he is poor.
Next day is the first day of filming. Some came just to watch(Mimura) and some dolled up in hope they might appear in the movie(Sugiura and Principal). First scene they do is one where Takako suddenly embraces Yamada and they stay like that for a long moment making everyone emotional. Sugiura wrestles with memory of his own hug with Yamada. When Kotany yells "cut!" Takako jumps away from Yamada like she got burnt. All it needs is for him to compliment her fragrance(what is with everyone and smelling this episode?) and flashes his smile and she is knocked off her feet. Litterally. He has to grab her from fainting, lol. They continue to film and Takako is enjoying all first-love things like driving on same bike, watching fireflies, guy covering girl with his jacket when caught under sudden rain... The cutest moment is that when they realize they are standing really close they jolt little furter, but he still covers her with his jacket. Awww!
After all that, Yamada invites Takako in his home. Takako is reluctant but kids jump out welcome-dragging her in. Once inside they ask Yamada to make special pricey pancake, since they have special guest.
Who could say no when they are so cute, right? He makes it and all kids are too happy for having such a tastey thing. Yamada obviously enjoys seeing his family smiling and Takako looks all this in a daze. She finally relizes how wrong she was, seeing family so happy sharing one pancake. They urge her to eat and teary-eyed she compliments its taste.
All this makes her shine brightly as next day, she delivers her "Even if you are poor, i like you!" line perfectly making Director Kotani really happy. Unfortunately, Yamada wrestles with "I can't live without you!" making line really dull. They do it over and over and over... But he is not getting any better. Kotani is desperate. Mimura sides with Yamada and whispers something to him. After that, scene is perfect. Everyone is happy and Kotany thanks him. Her goal is to become Holliwood director and make war movies. When that happens she promises Yamada role of military soldier. HA! Wink to Ivo Jima? But he seems more happy about pool tickets she gives him. Mimura approaches Takako wishing her good luck for "third stage". Huh?
