Yamada-kun to Nananin no Majo episode 4
This episode is little bit more serious than former ones. But not too much, just enough so that these characters get under my skin and make me like them even more.
So Yamada is depressed after rejection from last episode and Itou is not helping. She went on spying errand and reveals that he, after rejection, actually pleaded girl, Takigawa Noa(Airi Matsui), to tell him everything she has problem with. Girls find it utterly gross but Yamada doesn't understand why. He deduced that every girl with witches power had some serious problem: Ootsuka was too shy to tell anything to her mom, Odagiri Nene was alone and wanted power, Shiraishi was bullied. The last one comes as a surprise to Itou and Miyamura, they didn't know. But Shiraishi says it is no big deal, after all it is in the past. Yamada sks for info on Noa and Miyamura says that there is not much to say: girl was child star with catch-phrase and characteristic hairstyle(she is still wearing something similar), also she sang "Tomorrow" from Annie. But when she started growing she got replaced. Now she is living quietly and even when she got in the school no one actually knew about her being famous. Yamada has a plan and asks Shiraishi for a kiss. She trusts him really a lot, likes him much or really doesn't give a damn about her reputation! HA! Basically his plan was to go and act like fan-girl with piggy tails bugging Noa to say her catch-phrase. Girl was on verge of tears and left with her friends tailing saying how cruel Shiraishi/Yamada is. Defeated again. They return and Miyamura explains that dark haired guy plays football but stopped after he didn't enter the team, girl didn't get into the school she wanted and long haired guy went out of band. Hmm, seems like reject group but still doesn't help them know what powers Noa has. Just then Odagiri steps in with her bodyguard Ushio, who has some painful past with Yamada. Girl informs Miyamura that meeting is to be held, they had another attack. School president, smiley creature with strong manipulation powers, tells that paint attack has happened once again. Since Noa is possible next target they need to watch her. Race time for Odagiri and Miyamura, but Noa doesn't like to be followed so she escapes. Miyamura explains everything to Paranormal Club so when Shiraishi and Yamada walk the hallway and girl from Noas' entourage tells Shiraishi Noa wants to see her, they became suspicious. Right they are for when Shiraishi and Yamada appear around corner paint filled balloon flew trough the air. Shiraishi kicked it back where it came from. Lucky that she and Yamada switched just before. They catch Noas' 3 friend and made them talk, when Itous' torture with feathers didn't work (hee), Yamada and Miyamura say they will make fun of her catchphrase. By making it remix? LOL! They revealed girls power is that when she kisses someone she sees that peoples past trauma. Pretty original. Entourage gets released and they apologize to Noa. Yamada confronts her about keeping people by her side with knowing their trauma. They disagree but Yamada says they are just pretending to be friends but not acknowledging their own faults: soccer boy didn't practice enough, girl didn't study and music guy lacks talent. He calls Noa spoiled for causing incidents because she is not famous any more. Yamada confesses that he had hard days but "way you live tomorrow changes your past". Noa kisses him and challenges him to get it over. In Paranormal club Yamada is depressed and explains what happened: Noa was invited to sing on stage for school mates and when she did, they spilled bucket of red paint all over her. Ugh! People can be so awful! Noa assembles her group and with smile tells them that Yamada was right, they should say goodbye and keep on with their life. Girl want's to say one thing. We don't hear it. Shiraishi finds Yamada sighing and asks for his story with Ushio. He discloses their story: Guys were delinquents but Yamada studied hard and got accepted into this school. But to his surprise Ushio secretly did same thing. They didn't hang out but they had problem fitting in so they started hanging out. Once they saw girl with their uniform being harassed and Ushio rushed to fight so Yamada reluctantly helped. Next day Yamada got suspended for girl said that he made Ushio fight and Ushio confirmed it. Wow, people can really be awful! Duo goes back to school and passing by hall they hear Noa singing. She stops the moment she sees them but Shiraishi stops her and plays piano for her to continue. Noa continues and with every note happenings from past come back. How her mother didn't let her eat so that she wouldn't grow, how she got replaced, how her classmates asked her to do her catchphrase and sing. And when memory of stage humiliation comes she screams and crouch. Shiraishi and Yamada look worried not sure what to do. But Noa again starts singing, first quiet but then stronger and stronger and finishes beautifully with big smile. Yamada runs out making fuss in corridor and finds Ushio. From his running ball falls from window and in front of soccer boy, book finishes on entourage girls table and guitar is just waiting to be picked up by musician boy. Yamada tells Ushio that he wants to forget everything but asks if Otsuka Nene was the girl who reported him. Ushio admits but says interesting thing, she followed orders. This just got even more interesting. Noa comes to usual hang out place but finds it empty. Next moment soccer boy comes dressed in football uniform, girl comes carrying practice book and musician with guitar. They just smile widely and continue their own way. So sweet!! She goes to apologize to Paranormal Club and they jokingly sing her catch-phrase. She smiles and then recognize their Witch book saying she knows who has last volume. Next thing we know Yamada goes to the room but girl stops him saying he can't go further for it is Students Union place. Uh-oh!
So, manipulative President has it? Wow! Never guessed he would be interested in witches. Noa ended up being quite nice girl with really big burden. And this series ended up being really good with more depth than i expected. But next episode seems like pure fun with nod on something familiar!
