I have just finished watching RotK and I have concluded that the best scenes are:
1. I never conciously realised that the scene where Gandalf is sitting alone in Minas Tirith with a bell tolling is the most powerful of all, maybe because it is so simple or because there is no dialog or because it is just so lonely.
2. Frodo getting stabbed by Shelob- I think that one goes without saying.
3. Merry and Pippin's farewell
4. After falling back to the second level in the battle for Minas Tirith when Pippin begins to cry and gandalf tells him that it is ot the end and all turns to silver glass etc...it makes me so teary.
5. Pippin singing as they try and re-take Osgiliath, with the beating of the horses hooves and blood dripping down Denethor's chin
6. Faramir witnessing Pippin's oath and then being told that it would have been better if Boromir was alive and he dead. Here I always have the urge to beat the daylights out of Denethor the B****RD and give Faramir a massive hug and tell him not to go to Osgiliath at all.
