we lived happily during the war

it's too simple to just say that this place is just ugly. It is so boring that I have eaten two bags of chips.

It is the kind of place where you never have to wait for a table.

Every other person has a military uniform. The streets don't seem long, but they are, and everyone of them seem to lead to a body of water. Even if it is a barge or an inlet, or a stream. all of these lead out to the sea.

I realized I have grown too used to ristrictions. Last night we walked to the end of the pier and there was nothing to stop me from jumping in. Nothing at all. This is what youth feels like I think

Dawsons creek brand of youth.

There are so many people in uniform. Some of them are so young they are mostly boots. They look wet, like the leaves that just unfurl themselves from my fiddle leaf tree. I see their little faces, peeking out from behind giant bowls of pho at the one vietnamese restuarant in town. Where do these boys and girls come from?

From all over the country i'm told. I'm told every single person in the navy will at some point, come to norfok. Nah Fawk as it is called.

Today I feel hopeful, like this place, that feels so backwards. Where a plate a pickles counts as a sidedish for a fish dish.

I discovered that I like being near the water. In fact, I want a boat.
