As for James's attitude, it's supposed to sound a *bit* patronising, because he's arrogant as all get out. It works because really, Lily is too. He *will* soften a bit in future, but he really does want to reform her because otherwise he has to arrest her, which would hinder their relationship a bit, see? ^_^

The title of "the botanist" is really cool. I liked that James was open enough with himself to realize that he was attracted to Lily, even if she was a criminal (and therefore a problem, in his occupation). Both characters still read like themselves, even in a piece that's so distant from what we see in JKR's world. Interesting reading!
