"ALL RIGHT"
By Doppelganger
They were letters…
Just letters… Written on a stained napkin Justin had grabbed from the diner tonight.
Letters, crooked and written on the weak material, too hard and too slowly. The thought of the effort Justin had put in writing the letters choked him.
What did it mean?
Was Justin blaming him for the bat the blond took to his head?
He swallowed.
It was his fault…
He stared at the napkin, his thumb ran across what Justin had written-
“Brian…”
He looked up and found Justin walking towards him. His eyes then unfocused; he was scared to look at Justin...
**********
Scared of what he might see.
He wanted Justin to forget; wanted Justin not to feel anymore pain. Justin held his gaze and to his surprise, the fear, the confusion- they were no longer there.
“I was practicing-” Justin pointed to the napkin.
He once again swallowed and feigned a smile, “You’re getting better. You spelled my name right.” He joked.
Justin smiled, “Thanks. For everything…” Justin raised a hand and brushed his cheek.
His eyes closed. He didn’t mind the pain or not forgetting. Maybe not now. What mattered most was that Justin’s all right…
They would be all right…
