My mind races like the blood in my veins
rushing toward splintered sunsets,
illuminated by tangerine iceblinks,
anchored in an arctic harbor.
My spirit unravels and agonizes until all
onlookers have set sail for azure skies.
My heart-strings tussle in their tug-of-war.
My ice melts into a sea of uncertainty.
Her body wavers like the legendery Cotopaxi
with her scarlet tresses flickering
in the zephyrs of the west.
The sun brandishes his beam, simpering
in regard to the lissom volcano.
He realizes his whims are wasted
on mere fantasies of ephemeral infatuation.
He sulks, descending closer, closer, and closer.
Before he breaches the cerulean tide,
he catches his reflection and discovers
that he controls his kismet.
He turns to confront his volcano, but her once
dazzling form lies dormant on an icy bed.
I awake in a coldsweat with a heart
full of emptiness.
This is a poem i wrote in an attempt to win a contest.... alas, it's too long. anybody have an idea of how i could change it to make it shorter and sound better, so i can enter it in the contest?
Hope you like it...
