Okay, so the mundane: I'm trying to find a pair of vintage eyeglasses. I picked up pair earlier this month, but I've decided I don't care for them. Phoenix Eyewear in Berkeley is supposed to be THE place to pick up frames, and that's where I found these. I'd never been there but I went there myself earlier this month and got taken. I was tired and crabby and traumatized by being in a public place and just bought these things for a cool $225. I should have known the guy was gonna put the full court press on me because he looked sort of like Sammy Hagar. Guys who own vintage eyewear places should not look like Mr Cabo Wabo. That, and I heard him refer to his mopey, waiting-on-death golden retriever as "Cash". That SHOULD really have tipped me off. "Cash.. CASH! Get away from the DOOR!" Anyways like I said I was tired and cranky and wanted to get back to a dark room as soon as possible. I got em home and put em on and felt just like Beaver Cleaver. The damn things barely fit on my sad giant melon. So now I'm looking for a pair on Ebay. They look a lot cheaper online - I should have thought of that. If anyone sees a pair of old two-toned horn rims or grey horn rims, that's what I'm looking for. Thanks.
Oh, more fascinating crap about me - I apparently have no sense for geography or how to measure a mile. At the beginning of the year I thought "If I can just run every other day and be completing a mile after 12 months,, well that'll really be an accomplishment!" (yes, my inner-narrative voice is exactly like "Butters" )Well apparently I'm already runnnig that and a little more after a month. I asked a fella I work with who runs the same route in Golden Gate Park and I'm running like a mile and a half. I think I like being out there when it's dark and there are very few people and I can think. Right now it takes me about 30 minutes to run 1 1/2 miles. I figure if I can just tack on a quarter mile over the next two weeks, I'll be running 2 miles soon. So I guess my new goal for the end of '06 will be to run 5 miles. Man am I a dimwit. I shoulda paid attention in math class. Well crap, they told us we'd all be using metric by now anyway. Oh, that reminds me - I also went around telling other students at my highschool (this was around 1983) "Dude, what are you going to the computer lab for? Computers are totally just a passing fad.." I actually believed this. To be fair, this was probably on some level related to my loyal but misplaced allegiance to non-synthesizer bands like the Clash and the Ramones. I know, I was a retard. I was "against" bands like Flock of Seagulls and Romeo Void. Now I'm fine with that music. Jesus, play a My Little Pony commercial and I get sentimental now.
