I had a fantastic weekend. Wends had Friday off, and was in a bumming mood. I ended up going out and getting us some DVDs, and we sat and watched them. We started with Enduring Love, a psychological thriller. Whilst the overall storyline was good, it was a bit too slow moving. Then we watched Coach Carter, which was an awesome movie. Finally we sat down to watch Ladies in Lavender... it was around 1am and Wends informed me she 'didn't think she would last!'. I said I didnt care, as I got that movie for me, not her... needless to say, she sat through the entire movie, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It helped that there was a lot of violin in it, but the movie overall was great, although it would not satisfy a lot of tastes.
Satruday afternoon Wends friends from Geelong came up. After a couple of drinks everyone relaxed and a great night followed. We went out to dinner, which included some very interesting conversations about "innies and outies" and "showers and growers". Dinner was followed by a trip to Sexyland. (We believe it was a maiden voyage for 2 of the girls, and one confirmed that she had been a sex shop virgin to us the next day). When we got home, I got out the porn mag one of our younger straight male friends had left here, so I could show the girls the difference between an innie and an outie. We decided to play Psychologizer, which is a great game to get some really interesting discussions happening. You have to pick what someone would say based upon a question with 4 possible answers. The questions are quite varied, including politics, religion, love and sex, and morality questions. It can be quite an eye opener, as some people think that because you've known someone forever, you'll be able to pick all their responses. But for most of the questions, they aren't ones that you would normally discuss, so some of the answers are very enlightening. We went to bed at 2am, and the others fell straight asleep, but Wendy and I laid there and chatted til like 4am. It was really nice, especially after the recent break.
On Sunday, we dropped one of the girls off at the station, and showed another a way to get wherever she had to go, and then Wends, Rach and I went to Yarra Glen and had a look at the Farmers market. It wasn't bad, with LOTS of free tastings. We bought some home made Lemon, Lime and bitters cordial. I was tempted to buy some Red Wine Jus, but Wendy didnt like it. We also discovered Kiwi Fruit Wine, which was delicious... and I dont even like wine. The liqeour was even better as it had that nice burn that I love. The chocolates and fudges were divine, and there was plenty of oils for dipping bread in. They even had buffalo sausages.... which even if that had've been a free tasting I dont think I would've eaten. Perhaps is was just a brand, but I wasn't gonna try. We came home via Animal Aid. There was a lovely Burmese, but another pair of lesbians were holding her, and we didnt want to interupt. There was also the cutest Persian, you know the cats with the flat faces, like the one the Inspector Gadgets nemesis has... well he was adorable, but long haired. In the dogs, the beautiful Staffy Carson was still there. There is also another beautiful bigger dog called Bulla, who although is only 8 months old, acts more like a 5 yo. The one that REALLY stole my heart though was a 3 month old Collie X. Strangely it was a short hair, but he was just adorable. I guess deep down it must run in my family, we love collies. My parents owned a most beautiful one, Sheba. Unfortunately my mother nearly died from asthma before it was discovered she was allergic to animal fur. They ended up having to give her away, but she went to friends of theirs who also had one of her daughters.
In the afternoon we went to Kath and Suzes. Kath and Rach both did the police agility test on the same day. They were talking about it, and sharing different experiences. We dropped Rach off at the train station, and then went back for dinner. I had a great evening, and so did the other girls.
Then I went to the pub to meet up with Andy and Chris. We were in the pokies and stuff, and they ended up getting so pissed we nearly got kicked out. It was excellent. We came home at 1:30am and I started cooking bacon and egg sandwiches, and andy made savoury rolls and chips. We feasted and then played Hold Em Poker til 3:30 when we finally called it a night.
I really had a great weekend, and hope I have plenty more like this ahead.
