SO, after all the news coverage of the propaganda response speeches ("We will not be defeated by these evil men who wish to take innocent human life blah blah blah") and more bullshit "in-depth" investigations and "exclusive" stories that all boiled down to nobody knowing anything significant, I watched Dateline. Ted Koppel had a few people on to talk with about the attack, including a former IRA member named David Irvine. These are some of the few people I've listened to who UNDERSTAND.
Irvine talked about the motivations for terrorism and how abstaining from encouraging terrorists with propagandized responses such as the ones that every world leader at the conference in Scotland, including Bush and Blair, gave yesterday.
One of Koppel's guests (sounded like Mike Schobel?), who wrote two books about terrorism, spoke about how Bush's and other leaders' claims that terrorists "hate our freedoms and liberties" and want to "destroy our people and their way of life" are completely wrong. Islamic fundamentalist groups such as Al Quaeda want to revolt against the corrupt, US-backed governments in the Middle East. Our intervention angers them, presenting ourselves as stopping them from pursuing their goals of establishing a Islamic theocratic government in countries like Saudi Arabia. He also said that if we were to seriously pursue some of the goals we SAY we are trying to achieve but DON'T REALLY PUT THAT MUCH THOUGHT INTO IT, then they feel justified in trying to attack us in order to drive the corruption of the US out of THEIR LAND (AS IN "NOT OURS"). He concluded his remarks by calling for change in foreign policy and withdrawal from Iraq and other territories that are not ours.
The US should thus learn to:
a) stop being a politically corrupt asshole of a country when dealing in foreign affairs and following through on its promises, and
b) get the fuck out of Iraq and mind its own fucking business, which means STOP "SPREADING DEMOCRACY," because a demcratic revolution (and by the way we are a REPUBLIC, Mr. Bush) cannot succeed if is not initiated and fought by the citizens of the country undergoing the revolution.
Also, the British should get the fuck out of Ireland. Imperialism ended two centuries ago, assholes. And Bush, learn to stand and walk erect. A president should have good posture. FDR, who was CRIPPLED, had better posture than you, you fucking monkey.

ISTANBUL, Turkey Jul 8, 2005 - First one sheep jumped to its death. Then stunned Turkish shepherds, who had left the herd to graze while they had breakfast, watched as nearly 1,500 others followed, each leaping off the same cliff, Turkish media reported.
In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher and the fall more cushioned, Aksam reported.
"There's nothing we can do. They're all wasted," Nevzat Bayhan, a member of one of 26 families whose sheep were grazing together in the herd, was quoted as saying by Aksam.
The estimated loss to families in the town of Gevas, located in Van province in eastern Turkey, tops $100,000, a significant amount of money in a country where average GDP per head is around $2,700.
"Every family had an average of 20 sheep," Aksam quoted another villager, Abdullah Hazar as saying. "But now only a few families have sheep left. It's going to be hard for us."
