Whatever it is, it's happening

Lifestyle change is a term I've been hearing a lot of lately. Whether it's related to diet, fitness, health, sickness, wealth, it's all the same; commit yourself to a certain lifestyle depending on the outcome you desire.

We're creatures of habit, so it only makes sense that we stick to some sort of regime that allows us to reach that goal that we want. Unfortunately, it's the same habits that keep us spinning in circles, preventing us from achieving the things that we want to achieve. It's a catch 22. In order to attain a habit of success, we have to break our habits that lead us into failure.

I've been making a lot of lifestyle changes lately. Some because I have to, such as my health, others a product of my environment. For example, my change in diet in order to live a healthier life, has also led me to drink less and party less, thus go out less, spend money less, etc. It's all linked together.

So what started off as one change in my life has actually resulted in many changes in my life.

But then comes the evil bad habits. The sick cycles and patterns that have made us who we are for better or for worse, resisting the inertia and trying to divert our change back into the "normalcy" of how we were before.

Five weeks of eating well and working out was almost usurped by this past Labor Day weekend. Within three days I was eating deep fried foods and consuming copious amounts of alcohol. It's not that I shouldn't have my cake and eat it too. I can't.

Fortunately, I was able to take a step back from this hiccup and recognize I was headed down the path again of being overweight, unhealthy and well, just back to my old bad habits.

I've already started walking down this road of better eating which seems to be taking me to a much more mature place in life as well.

And I'm ok with it.

life, health
