Last night I headed over to Century City Plaza to check out the Martin + Osa store. I gotta say, I love it. I'm graduating into the J. Crew echelon of clothes, mixed in with a little bit of urban casual contemporary chu chu couture (whatever the fuck that really means I seriously just made it up but think RVCA, Theory, Subscript, Ek5obition) and was looking for another alternative to keep my options open, rather than having the official closet of insert store here.
Martin + Osa is pretty much the next tier of American Eagle, which I am a huge fan of. But I feel myself getting a bit too old for the wild colors and vicious embroidery and logo blasting. Even back when I wore their stock heavily I don't remember the logo being so loud. It's like someone wore a shirt and ran into a large AE rubber stamp. "Hey, lemme guess, you got that at AE?" Bleah.
The Martin + Osa store is nice. Really nice. I love the layout and the dressing rooms. I'm not a big bourgie shopper - and not say that M+O is bourgie, but when they set aside my room with my name on it, was always at my beck and call, and gave me a bottle of Fiji water as I shopped, come ON. WTF. I'm not used to that kind of stuff. I mean, it may be everyday shopping for a lot of you, but this is all new to me. I guess it comes with the territory. Higher tiered shops dish out the customer service to keep their customers coming back, especially when their items are priced the way they are. You get what you pay for.
The other day while shopping for my sister's dress, I couldn't believe how nice the girl was. You have to understand, when I walk into a store, they usually suspect me of being a shoplifter - I dunno why, but I get tailed like curves on a Latin ass. So when the sales people shower me with love and sex I freak out a bit.
M+O is slightly lower priced than J. Crew. Which is a good thing. It keeps my options open. I definitely found a new store to pull from.
