Day 17, July 4
Left Venice at the usual 8 am wake, and headed for Florence. Unfortunately for us ALL museums in the country are closed on Monday's, so we couldn't go see any of the famous art--David, birth of Venus, etc. Instead we took another guided tour if the city, stopping st the three main squares to ogle and enjoy the sights. We ended at what we thought was going to be a leather factory, but up just being a well know leather shop, and learned about Italian leather, how to twill real leather, and about how they make stuff. After this we were set free to do whatever we wanted in the store. Almost everyone got in line for the bathroom, which took about 45 minutes (I was last because I wasn't in a hurry and it wasn't urgent). After this wait a few of us shopped around for about half an hour, and I came out of it with a very pretty leather jewelry box. Next we headed to the street market where others shopped around and got scares and books and things. We sat and chatted for a while, and finally went back to the square to meet our group at 6, headed to the hotel, and had dinner at the hotel at 7. It was a buffet of really delicious pastas, meats, and veggies
