The first time I watched this I cringed, but two days later I still can't get it out of my head. It's either catchy, or I'm just incredibly susceptible to obsessing over things. Or, you know, a mix of them both.

Recently I found out something hilarious about the area where I work. It's called 水围村 (shui3wei2cun1), or Village Surrounded by Water. The name is apt, because it's located right on the bay that separates Shenzhen from Hong Kong. Anyway, a nickname for the area is 二奶村 (er4nai3cun1), or Second Wife Village.
My dad had told me this on my first day of work, and he'd been laughing, but I didn't get it. What was so funny about women who were the second wives of divorced men?
Turns out, they're not divorced men, but bigamists. These men live in Hong Kong during the work week and have one family there. Then they come to Shenzhen on the weekends (or vice versa) to be with their second wives. These women don't do anything but shop and maintain themselves, and they usually get a weekly allowance. It's so Real Housewives!

Today's my first day off from tutoring this week, hurrah! And I'm gonna use it to catch up with my dad. He came back from a business trip on Sunday and I've barely seen him since. We're gonna have dinner and maybe watch a movie.

Day 08 - Short term goals for this month and why.
My main goal for this month is to get my work stuff sorted out. I'm still wavering about the second tutoring job, and there are different, potentially better situations available if I drop this one. Also, at my main job, I'm still not fully integrated into the new department. I need to get off my ass, be proactive, and figure this out!
Other goals... I'd like to meet some more people. In Shenzhen, the big social thing is clubbing at one club in particular. It gets boring after a while (especially after your phone gets stolen there), the people are all the same. There are too many skeezy men and easy women.
Lastly, I need to go to the gym more often! The other day I went on the treadmill and lost my breath after 5 minutes of jogging. I had to dial the speed down to a speed walk for the rest of my workout. I have no endurance, it's so sad.
