Summer in the city (means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage)

God it's hot in NYC this week. It's all muggy and icky. Three things did cheer me up today though.

1. I saw a woman carrying a pink parasol. Then a construction worker whistled at her, and she looked scandalized.
2. The doorman of my building complimented me on my stilted piano playing. I've been trying to get back into it, and it really boosted my confidence.
3. A little background on this conversation. I'm staying at a dorm on campus this summer, and every year they do a Pre-College Program for highschoolers. The poor buggers have to sign in and out each time they leave the building. They've been wandering around Morningside Heights in little clumps. It's actually quite adorable... at least until a PCP staff member asked me if I had remembered to sign in. I know I'll look 30 when I'm 40, but for now, it's kind of a hindrance looking like I'm a highschooler when I'm really 20.

My friend and I were walking around looking for a place to watch a movie, but everywhere we looked there were groups of the PCP-ers. We then came up with this gem of a convo:

Friend (let's call her WHOGIRL): God, they're everywhere!
ME: We should go make friends.
WHOGIRL: Eh... I have friends.
ME: ....
WHOGIRL: That's probably not the best response.
ME: Did you miss the day in preschool when they told you making new friends is good?

And I really need to stop going to the local library. My bookshelf is already creaking under the weight of all the books I've bought, and I just keep borrowing more. It's a sickness really.

life is strange, new york
