*shame*

It's been way too long since I've posted. I've let life, school, and other business get in the way. But I'm going to attempt to write more often, if only to keep my head straight. There's so much going on right now I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be doing now. Anyway, this is my final program for this semester:

Biology 1002 - yes, I am taking intro level bio, and only for my lab requirement.
Postmodernism - I'm not sure of half of what's said in this class, but I like it.
Literary Criticism and Theory - Taught by my favorite English professor. Shaping up to be a good class, even though there is much reading of philosophy.
Accelerated Intermediate German - There are 6 of us from my Accelerated Beginner class, and then there are 4 strangers, who all seem to be better at German than we 6. Kind of disheartening.

Since I'm in the mood for lists right now, let's continue with one of notable shows and movies I've seen lately.

1) Atonement
-- I loved this film, the cinematography was beautiful and the acting superb. Not pretentious at all. I found it quite the opposite, showing human emotion and love with great skill and clarity.

2) North and South
-- I finally finished watching it. I literally watched the 3 I hadn't seen in one evening. It completely drew me in and now I'm in a quandary. Which is greater, Darcy or Thornton?

3) Mansfield Park (the one with Billie Piper, *points to icon*)
-- I've heard reviews that this isn't a good adaptation, but I really enjoyed it. Billie played Fanny well (as she always does) and I enjoyed most of the other performances, though I thought Mrs. Norris was not annoying enough. I plan on watching the rest of the Masterpiece Theatre Classics sequence, especially the Jane Austen biopic next week. Looks to be more historically accurate and less annoying than Becoming Jane.

4) Spooks
-- I just got into this show, mostly because of Matthew Macfadyen, but found myself staying for the whole cast, especially Keeley Hawes. The writing and pacing are sharp and fast, and the issues they deal with are both profound and interesting.

5) The Kite Runner
-- I went to this movie and literally had tears in my eyes throughout. I generally preferred the sections in Dari Persian to the ones in English, mostly because of the superb child actors. I just really wanted to give little Hassan a huge hug, and little Amir one too for good measure.

I think that's all for now, but I'll be back with a list of recent books. :D

life is strange, musings, movies
