Beck --- "Mariachi" Concert

so i went friday by myself because no one else i know is a big fan. they said the show starts at 8:15, but Beck didn't come out until 10:10. I was disappointed and very impatient by then because i didn't think it would take him almost 2 hours to finally get on stage. but other than that, it was a very good show. It was of course heavily based on his new album "Guero", but he sang a few songs from his 90s albums, and several songs from his 2002 Sea Change album (which i absolutely love). And Beck is tiny!! short little twig. But he's very cute. It's really funny to see him dance... he has somewhat of an awkward geek quality to him when he's moving his body. And he had this nerdy-looking bandmate who was kinda twiggy like Beck (white shirt, black pants, converse shoes, skinny black tie, nerd glasses) who did breakdancing for a few songs. He was pretty cool. Later on in the show, they set up a small table where the band started having dinner right on stage with the nerd guy started serving them food, and Beck still on the microphone with a guitar singing a set of slow songs. At the end of the set he played a faster song, in which subtlely, the band at the dinner table began using their water glasses, bowls, utensils, etc. as percussion instruments. And some guy was running the tip of his finger on the edge of his water glass, and the apples set on the middle of the table were apparently fake and two of them started using them like a maracas. it was pretty neat. he brought people up on stage during his 2 final songs, and sadly, it was over.

I would have to say that the worst part about the concert was this pretty bad opening act from TV Sheriff... i had to walk out of it for a few minutes. it was kinda sad though when people boo-ed them after their show and subsequent mentions thanking them for opening for the band. well, i don't think they were that bad... it was more artistic than it was musical, and they were making political and social references throughout their show, but since it wasn't that good of a show, people missed the point of it i think. Later on Le Tigre came onstage and everything was much better.
