random procrastination update as im dressed parisian
procrastination is sweet. so i have four quizes/tests this week in my 1 class here, and i really should be studying for them now, but i dont want to...so im going to leave a relatively uneventful update here instead.
so since im on my own this weekend i havent done much. friday i went to the louvre and saw some works i didnt know were there that i happened upon this time- degs, monet, renoir, and vermeer.
but i think my favorite part of the museum this time was this tiny room, off in the corner of a wing, that had prints and copper plates used to make the prints from this one artist. the series was called "nous ne sommes pas les derniers" (we are not the last) and all the prints were of people on their deathbeds or hanged. it was so powerful and seemed so much more noteworthy than the numerous portraits of random people... yet it was stuck in the corner and the entire time i was in there, which was quite a while, people would look in, but most of them turned around without looking at the art. there was no photography allowed and of course no postcards of the work, so im going to have to see it again so i can make sure i clearly remember it.
yesterday i did shopping, i went into so many stores and liked so much but im too stingy or sizes didnt fit so i only ended up getting one top. but the H&M i found was so much better than the first, and i will definitely go back before leaving paris.
today i went to an open air market and bought myself two very parisian scarves. even though it is summer, women wear scarves all the time and being a bit of a scarf addict, i had to get some since i didnt come with any.
so now im going to do some homework than go see a movie- probably an american one, a taste of home since my american friends arent here to fill the hole.
this week should be fairly eventful, so the next time i update there will be more interesting things to read.
